Srinivasa Reddy Kandi: YouTube Shields Livestream “Vibe” by Pausing Ads During High Engagement

YouTube Shields Livestream “Vibe” by Pausing Ads During High Engagement:

YouTube has introduced a new update to improve livestream viewing by holding back ads when audience engagement is at its peak.

The platform now detects moments when live chat activity surges or when viewers actively support creators through features like Super Chat, Super Stickers, or virtual gifts. During these high-energy moments, YouTube will automatically delay ads to preserve the flow and excitement of the stream—something that previously required a YouTube Premium subscription to avoid.

In addition, viewers who purchase Super Chats, Super Stickers, or gifts will receive a short, personalized ad-free window immediately after their purchase. These features allow fans to highlight messages or send visual reactions, making their interaction more visible during streams.

YouTube says this change is designed to help creators maintain momentum without interruptions, ensuring that key moments remain immersive for audiences.

Alongside this update, the platform is expanding monetization and engagement tools globally. More creators can now receive virtual gifts, with the feature rolling out in countries including Canada, South Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, Australia, and New Zealand.

The company is also enhancing interactivity by allowing viewers to send GIFs in both vertical and horizontal livestreams via mobile devices. Creators can now stream in both formats simultaneously while keeping all viewers connected through a single shared chat.

With over 30% of U.S. livestream watch time in 2025 coming from connected TVs, YouTube is focusing on making livestreams more flexible and engaging across different screen types, while balancing monetization with a better viewer experience.
