OpenAI Introduces New $100/Month Pro Plan to Bridge Pricing Gap:

OpenAI has officially launched a new $100 per month Pro subscription tier, addressing long-standing demand from power users for a mid-range option between its existing plans.

Previously, ChatGPT pricing included a free plan (now with ads), an $8/month Go plan (also ad-supported), a $20/month Plus plan (ad-free), and a high-end $200/month Pro plan. Although the $200 tier is no longer prominently listed on the pricing page, OpenAI has confirmed it is still available.

The newly introduced $100 Pro plan is designed primarily for developers and heavy users, particularly those relying on ChatGPT’s coding tool, Codex. Compared to the Plus plan, it offers up to five times more Codex usage capacity, making it better suited for intensive coding sessions. OpenAI also noted that both the $20 Plus and $100 Pro plans are optimized for daily development workflows. The company is positioning this new tier as a direct competitor to Anthropic’s $100 Claude plan, emphasizing better coding capacity per dollar—especially during high-demand usage. For a limited time, until May 31, users of the $100 Pro plan will benefit from even higher Codex limits. However, OpenAI cautions that these elevated limits are temporary and may be reduced later.

Importantly, none of the subscription plans offer unlimited usage. The $200 Pro plan remains the most powerful option, providing up to 20 times the usage limits of the Plus plan, making it suitable for continuous, large-scale workflows across multiple projects. While all Pro tiers share similar core features, the key difference lies in their usage limits, allowing users to choose a plan that best matches their workload intensity.
