Srinivasa Reddy Kandi: Google Expands Gemini in Chrome to More Asia-Pacific Markets

Google Expands Gemini in Chrome to More Asia-Pacific Markets:

Google has announced the expansion of its Gemini integration in Chrome to seven additional countries: Australia, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, and Vietnam. The feature is now accessible on both desktop and iOS platforms across these regions, with the exception of Japan, where iOS support is not yet included.

This rollout builds on Google Chrome’s ongoing AI enhancements introduced over the past year. One of the key additions is a sidebar-based assistant powered by Gemini, designed to help users interact more efficiently across multiple tabs. It also leverages Gemini’s Personal Intelligence capabilities, enabling integration with services like Gmail and Google Photos to deliver more personalized responses.

Through this feature, users can perform a variety of tasks directly within the browser, such as scheduling meetings via Google Calendar, retrieving location details through Google Maps, and composing or sending emails using Gmail. Additionally, the sidebar includes tools like Nano Banana 2, which allow users to edit and transform images found on the web.

Initially launched in the United States in January, Gemini in Chrome was later extended to India, Canada, and New Zealand in March. While the feature is now reaching a broader global audience, Google’s more advanced “agentic” capability—designed to autonomously perform tasks within the browser—is still under testing and remains limited to subscribers of AI Pro and AI Ultra plans in the U.S.
